Avatar Review: Read The Full Avatar Movie Review To Discover Shocking Facts
Has the Avatar lived up to its much hype? Has it really taken the cinema to the next frontier of entertainment? The following Avatar Movie Review may shock you.
Cameron's most expensive movie can be summed up with this line: effect over affect. The visual effects are breathtaking but it lacks the emotional affect and plays along a rehashed storyline of a combination of Last of the Mohicans, Pocahontas and Dances With Wolves.
Set in 2154, the inhabitants of earth have depleted their energy stocks and need to get a special mineral called Unobtanium from a far away planet in order to sustain themselves. The planet, known as Pandora, is inhabited by blue-skinned natives called Na'vi, who step up a resistance to stop the plunder of their mineral by the earth people.
That is just about the movie. One thing that a movie lover will not fail to notice is the horrible soundtrack of the movie. Cameron could have done better than picking up James Horner for the job. It's a gross over-ripe symphony that makes a futile attempt at complementing the film.
While Cameron brings a contemporary twist in the film by making allusions to the War on Terror, the characters do not develop and do not live up to their roles. This makes much of their conversation superfluous as the story fails to develop around most of the dialogue.
While the visual effects can be applauded, you may not be able to enjoy the 3D movie in 3D. If you wear glasses, you may have to endure the 161 minutes of torture in the name of 3D cinema experience. While the environment simulates a 3D scene, Cameron kills the visual with his one-dimensional characters. The conclusion of the Avatar Review is that the film does not live up to its expectations.
