How to get a great beach hotel deal
Great beach hotel deals
Depending on your budget, I could list all manner of beach hotels - from 1 star mudholes to 5 star rock-god heaven.
Infinity lap pools overlooking gorgeous beach sunsets. Lazy days at the bar and getting massages. This is the stuff dreams are made of.
But how to get the best deal? That cheap but awesome package?
Over the years, and by meeting a few "pros", I've managed to score incredible deals on beach hotels that really made my stay awesome.
The main thing to remember is hotels charge for:
- location
- 'vibe'
- quality of furnishings
- proximity to beach
- brand name
If you want to be at a certain beach, you can get the same quality hotel but at a cheaper price if you do NOT choose a famous brand-name hotel, for example.
Or a hotel right in the middle of the 'action' is going to cost more than one hidden up the far end of the beach away from it all.
Cost of beach hotels vary. I've found the best bet is to choose some awesome location, do a google search for that location and beach hotels in the area, then find the ones that are either right up the end of that location instead of in the middle, or just around the corner in the next "quieter" beach.
Those beach hotels will be cheaper.
Next, once you've found a nice hotel, don't book direct. You can save money by using a deal-finding site - most hotels around the world put their unbooked rooms on these sites in the hope of selling them off faster.
Go to a deal-finder hotel site like www.greatbeachhotels.com, and find your hotel listed there. Sites like that scour ALL the deal-finding hotel websites and list the cheapest deals.
Book your hotel.
Important: ask for a complimentary upgrade to a better room.
A lot of people are uncomfortable doing this, but if you have worked in the hotel industry, you know that the staff don't care. They want you to be happy!
If they have a spare room and it is nicer than the one you have booked, and nobody else is going to book it that day, they will more likely give it to you so you are a happier guest!
