Caroline Shotton, a modern day british artist makes an international reputation for herself, largely by painting cows.
Caroline quotes "I recieve inspiration when least expected, normally when I am relaxing and never purposely considering painting. I question how I'd capture on canvas how a light's falling on my small son's hair or which techniques I'd use to recreate the rotting plasterwork on the disused shop front."
Although very gifted in several areas, she's now found a distinct segment in painting Cows in their recognisable style.
Among her tiles are  Beef Dripping, Cows, Falling deeply in love with Moo, and also the persistance of moomory.
It appears to become that be considered a succesful contemporay artist are looking for a unique style and perhaps a topic gimmick, so when it's like being succesful, you simply keep creating work different color leaves.  Without doubt that whenever several years this style will walk out fashion. But meanwhile , the artist will have the ability to make  lots of money. The majority of the money is made of selling limited edtion prints . The artist only needs to fresh paint one picture, then sell it 100s of occasions over by getting prints released, in addition to matching sculptures etc..
Other artsits who've been succesful with this particular formula are Doug Hyde, Todd Whitened, Peter Cruz among about 20 others.
Art and design is not an effective way of creating money for most of us, but when you are lucky enough to get find the correct niche, you will be designed for existence.

Where can I sell this Caroline Shotton painting?
I bought a Caroline Shotton limited print 2 years ago, and I now want to sell it. However, I don't know how much it would be worth now, and I have tried eBay, but have not found one similar. It is called Handle With Care, and I originally paid £400 for it.
Her art often sells out, so if your print is in good condition, you should be able to easily sell it for what you paid for it, if not more.
I would contact galleries that sell her Ltd. Edition prints to see what it would cost to buy it now, since it is a sold out edition, and base my price off that. They may also have a line directly on a buyer seeking a copy, which would save some time. You'll pay e-bay a commission of the sales, so paying a gallery to do the work and save you the hassle might work out to be the same...
