The Benefits Of Using Botanical Skin Care
Botanical skin care is made with gentle, skin-friendly and eco-friendly ingredients from the nature. It avoids using chemicals that are commonly found in beauty products but can be harmful to the environment and can irritate a sensitive skin.
Some substances often used in botanical skincare include cold pressed vegetable oils (such as almond, olive, apricot and other quality oil), natural essential oils, butters (such as cocoa butter), flower waters (rosewater or orange blossom water) and other gentle but effective products. All these are plant-based, safe substances that are nourishing for the skin and are safer than chemicals and artificial preservatives or fragrances. For example, essential oils are a natural alternative to perfumes but they also have their own healing properties and are used in aromatherapy face and body treatments.
Olive, Grapeseed and Macadamia Oil are amazing natural oils that work wonders for the skin.
Olive oil is popular for its culinary uses but it has skin benefits as well. It is a mild botanical ingredient that is rich in oleic acid. It works well as a skin cleanser and emollient. Olive oil also contains antioxidants like vitamin E to prevent skin damage and skin aging.
Grapeseed Oil is another powerful antioxidant that creates an invisible film on the top of your skin. This is to keep moisture in while protecting the skin from damage. It is also highly effective in repairing the skin around the eyes. Grapeseed oil is rich in linoleic acid and several other essential oils which are necessary for skin health.
Macadamia Oil is a luxurious oil that is easily absorbed into the skin and body. It is proven to protect skin cells from aging and has an amazing ability to penetrate the damaged skin by replenishing oils that are lost during the day. Macadamia oil is one of the few from plant oils that contains high amounts of palmitoleic acid therefore has a great affinity to our own skin.
Botanical skincare usually does not contain perfumes, colorants, preservatives or other artificial ingredients that are commonly used in other cosmetics. Many face or body creams and lotions on the market contain chemicals that are harmful to the environment and can also cause irritation or even allergies. Plant-based beauty products are also usually not tested on animals. Botanic does not mean that the products are necessarily 100% organic, but organics are used whenever possible.
Botanical skin care is a safer alternative especially if you have ever suffered from any allergic reactions to common cosmetics. Natural products are just as effective but are safer to use and you can rest assured that your beauty regime does not harm the ecosystem or your body.

Where can I find botanical sketches of Australian Native plants?
Where can I find detailed botanical drawings of Native Australian species from groups like Eucalyptus, Grevillea, Proteacea, Acacia (wattles) etc? Colour is preferable but not essential. Sketches like those done by Joseph Banks would be perfect. I'm finding it very hard to find such illustrations in libraries here.
I love Australian natives and would love to incorporate some great drawings into some Bicycle decals I'm designing.
