Dog Painting
An Artsy Dog Show
Is it graffiti? This is probably ruffiti. There is an artist who loves to paint his dogs on uncontested spaces all over Manhattan from construction site fences to buildings. May you be a dog lover or not, surely you will react when you see the portraits that he does of his beloved four legged pals.
With the variety in those who pass by comes a variety in their reactions. Since the dogs' conception in 1987, they have appeared in fashion spreads, MTV and the movies. After the media covered most of his works, he ended up with a seven city tour one summer on Route 66.
He started painting the dogs as a way to cut through, to avoid having to talk to art dealers. There are artists who find it rather insulting to have to listen to what art dealers dictate when it comes to their paintings. When it comes to the art world, to be successful, you need to follow what art dealers instruct you to do.
Serving as a new activity for him was painting these images. Sitting in the room is almost a psychedelic experience. Taking these portraits into consideration, they are pretty diverse. He considers this to be the best showcase of art.
The dog portraits are completed with seven swift strokes. You can say that his dislike for the kinds of art usually found in galleries resulted to such a magnificent take on painting. For one woman who was located down the street from the gallery, she only visited when there was the dog show. In fact, she bought a $1,500 dog painting from the show.
There were some buyers and then some. There was a brief autograph signing stint for one enthusiast. The dogs were believed to be sacrificed for Satan by the artist. Such portraits should not be in New York another person mentioned.
The artist was not going to allow these people to ruin his moment. Actually, antiques were his life before he began delving into art forms.
He works by utilizing the things he sees in the city. Most of the time, you will find him around the Wall Street area at night. Usually, he goes to the country during summer. On Route 66, the tour, Dogs across America, passes through.
