home-stay to learn French in French speaking country?

I have heard that you can go to countries like Guatemala and live with a home-stay family for 4 months and have a private language instructor and become near fluent in Spanish after you're done. I don't know what kind of organizations host or set up things like this.

I am very interested in learning French and would love to travel to a French-speaking country (developed or not developed) and live with a French-speaking family for few months. Does anyone know of any programs or organizations what can help me do this?

I know nothing about French, but I do know that you are correct on the Guatemala account. And here in Guatemala it is less costly than Europe will be. Of course, learning French or Spanish outside of Europe, while cheaper, will give you a slightly different version of the language.
