Good Samaritan
The Parable of the Good Samaritan
Jesus told a story of how a certain man was attacked by robbers who beat him up and left him for dead. As he lay on the road unconscious, a priest passed by and had one look at him then went his way, passing on the other side of the road. A few minutes later, a Levi passed by and did exactly what the priest did and went his way too. As time went by, a Samaritan came by and noticed the badly beaten up man. He was deeply moved and was compassionate. He took him, washed up his wounds with oil and wine then dressed them up.
He later took him, carried him on his donkey for he was half dead and took him to an inn where he instructed the owner to take care of him till he was better. He left some money for him and told him that if he used more than he had left, he would pay him when he passed by the next time. Considering that the Samaritans were viewed as ungodly people by the Jews, this was an unlikely act by the person. One would have expected the people who seem to have a walk with God be on the forefront in helping the poor man. Luke11:25-37.
As Christians today, our walk with God is being put to test. Do we just give him lip service yet our hearts are far away from him. If we really have a relationship with Jesus Christ, this can be seen in how we relate to those around us. You do not need to go telling everyone that you are a born again believer, your actions will speak louder for you.

EVERYBODY knows not to move an accident victim for exactly this reason. This is why those with medical training tell people without medical training not to touch injured people.
The good Samaritan can always make more money, but paraplegia is for life.
EVERY first-aid course makes this rule number one. If someone doesn't know not to touch or move accident victims, they obviously haven't taken so much as a basic four-hour first-aid course, so on what authority are they reaching into car wrecks convinced they're going to help?
People watch too much television. Cars don't explode just because they've been in an accident, and you can't move accident victims without risking snapping their spines.
In paralyzing this woman, the "rescuer" has not only limited her lifetime earnings potential, they've also burdened her with a host of medical expenses for the rest of her days, for no reason other than she's an idiot who "meant well." So who should help cover those expenses if not the person who caused them?
EDIT: Was the car on fire? No. Do evening traffic reports of dozens of motor vehicle collisions every night also read off all the ones that have spontaneously burst into flame? No. So why in the hell would anyone think that this car might, at some undetermined but apparently immediate point in the future, turn into an angry fireball when any fool knows that they don't?
So, Tincoat, you are probably able to distinguish between the likelihood of the car losing its purchase on the bridge and this situation. Now, if it wasn't as precarious as you make it sound, they were not facing certain death, and you caused a bunch of organ damage in the process of the "rescue" then you would be considered liable for making a bad situation worse. THAT is why she can be sued. Doesn't anyone get that, or is all that matters here is whether her heart was true even if her head was empty?
TINCOAT: The ruling is only that she is EXEMPT from protection under Good Samaritan laws, which state 1) that anyone who comes to another's aid has a duty of care to exercise due care, which Torti did not, and 2) immunizes from liability those who give emergency care in emergency situations, which this was not. Van Horn further argued, and the court agreed, that the missing-but-implied word in the above language is (emergency) *medical* (care), which exempts medical personnel, for obvious reasons. Unless you would have it that anyone who "intends" to act medically is the same thing as an actual trained paramedic, who, incidentally, arrived a few moments later.

Interestingly, for someone who thought the car would blow up, you wouldn't expect her to lay Van Horn down right next to it.
