The Monopoly Pub Crawl Route in London

One of the main draws for young people moving to London is undoubtedly the nightlife. The capital has it all – posh wine bars, glamorous cocktail bars, traditional ‘old man’ pubs, theme bars, pop-up bars and even bars on water. However, it’s almost a rite of passage for every young person in London to test their stamina and drinking ability by taking part in a London pub crawl.

The most famous London pub crawl is the Monopoly Pub Crawl. Before going into details of the exact  pubs that are visited on this boozy marathon route, it’s essential to give out some safety advice before you start running for your first pint!

The most important thing to remember is that everyone has their limitations when it comes to drinking. There are 26 pubs on this crawl, so you’ll need to be drinking small measures (half pints instead of pints, single measures of spirits instead of doubles) and frequently switch to soft drinks at some of the pubs, or else an ambulance will be picking you up before you reach the finish line. It’s also worth bearing in mind that you’ll be getting to a lot of these pubs on foot, so after a few drinks, remember to be careful when crossing the road. Finally but most importantly, do not even consider driving home. Get a taxi or the nightbus. It’s probably best to plan your route home in advance.

The Monopoly Pub Crawl

The aim of this pub crawl is to visit a pub in each of the featured squares on the Monopoly board. There are 26 squares, so you can’t dawdle in any of the pubs.If you want to complete the pub crawl, you should meet at Elephant & Castle tube station at 10.15am, ready to visit your first pub at 10.30am.

  1. The George on Tower Bridge Road in the vicinity of Old Kent Road. This pub opens early especially for the crawl.
  2. The Fen on Fenchuch Street
  3. The Aldgate Exchange on Whitechapel Road
  4. The Hamilton Hall at Liverpool Street Station.
  5. The Old Red Lion at Angel, Islington
  6. The Castle on Pentonville Road
  7. The Duke of York at Kings Cross Station.
  8. The Rocket on Euston Road
  9. The Victoria & Albert at Marylebone Station
  10. The Rose & Crown on Old Park Lane
  11. Ye Grapes in Shepherd’s Market, Mayfair
  12. The Blue Posts on Bennett Street, Piccadilly

I am looking for an affordable venue for a wedding around north london haringay/islington.?

On a tight budget ..would want a venue for 125 people, also looking for hall decorators, affordable photographers and camera men, limousine for hire, mobile bar, chocolate fountain for hire and dj's any ideas venue is critical please help it's for the end of august.

Sign up for a free account on theknot.com, then go on their message boards. (You may have to wait a few days to be able to post.) Find your Local Board, then ask this question there.

Another option - pick up your local phone book and mark down the places that could possibly be rented for an event ... planetariums, zoos, women's clubs, veterans clubs, bed and breakfasts, hotels, college ballrooms, art galleries, museums, public gardens, historical societies, church halls, high school gymnasiums, theaters, restaurants with a private room, etc.

Call these places and ask what the fee is to rent. Ask if they have a preferred caterer or if you must provide your own ... if so, then call some of your favorite restaurants and ask to see their catering menu and price sheet.

You may want to check out craigslist.org and wpja.com for photographers. Remember that you get what you pay for, so don't scrimp TOO much on photos. Cut some other stuff from your budget if you must, but a crappy photographer will stay with you all your life.

All others, look in the phone book and start making calls. If you're REALLY on a tight budget, cancel the limo and the chocolate fountain ... you don't need them.

Syriana live at Islington Assembly Hall 2nd Oct 2010
