How concerned should I be about pick pocketers in Florence, Italy?
I am thinking about studying abroad in Florence, but I am worried about pick pocketers. I was mugged a while back and am always paranoid of being robbed, mugged, pick pocketed, etc. even in my safe areas. I don't want to be constantly paranoid in Italy. Should I even go or what?
well robert if you were to live in Oakland for 3 months I would tell you not to especially if you had psychological issues from being robbed.
Pickpocketing do happen in any large city in Europe or the States, but you should be happy to know that it's not easy to be robbed at gunpoint there. Western Europe (UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Portgual, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Scandinavian countries, Holland, Belgium...) are perfectly safe countries. You will be fine. Just be aware of your personal safety as you would in any other first world country.
By the wat: are you American? You should know that last time I went to the States on a business trip I was robbed at gunpoint in a large city. Should I be concerned and not go there again? Are you paranoid there all the time about gun violence in your country? Probably not. Same thing there. Just go there and enjoy the experience of living and studying abroad.
