Any advice??
I have a 2 year old daughter with my ex named Gabrielle May. My ex and I have both moved on and gotten re-married. He just had his 2nd child 2 days ago and I took my daughter to see her new sister. Before my ex and I split up we got pregnant again and lost the baby girl at 24 weeks. We had a plaque for her put in the hospital's chapel. We had decided her name would have been Carmen Jade which is what we had put on the plaque. I was very upset to find out that he named his new daughter Carmen Jade. I felt very disrespected and felt that it was disrespect to the daughter we lost. My husband feels that I should let it upset me because it is in the past and there is nothing i can do about it. He says I should focus on relaxing as I am 13 wks. pregnant with our first child. Is the way I feel wrong?? It is making it very difficult for me and my daughter to visit them! I'm angry that he would do something like that. Am I wrong? What can I do to deal with this and not be so upset?
I sympathize with your situation and I think I might feel the same way, however since I am on the outside looking in, I can be more objective. Obviously your ex still likes the name and the new wife/mother isn't offended that he'd bring something so significant from his past into their lives now. Maybe it's his tribute to his lost little girl and he meant no disrespect...have you asked him what his motivation was in naming his new baby? I feel for you, but try to see it through his eyes, guys do afterall see things differently than we do and he may not have realized how deeply you'd be affected by this. You are a great ex to be able to keep a good enough relationship with your ex that you'd take your daughter to see her new sister. I think that's great. Try to talk to your ex and maybe even the new mom, if the relationship there allows it. She may sympathize with you also.
