The flamenco music is basically constructed with strong rhythmic undertones that are accompanied with the passionate dance with vigorous movement. It’s considered as a part of Spanish culture, but the place of origin for flamenco is Andalusia. The golden period of flamenco music is considered between the periods of (1869-1910). During the period of 1910 to 1955 flamenco singing became easier with the combination of opera flamenco. The real renaissance in flamenco was started in 1955 with the rise of Antonio Mairena as a great artist. The flamenco music has the influence of Salsa, Bossa Nova, and Jazz etc.

Can anyone recommend jazz signing masterclasses or open classes in the art of jazz singing&improv in New York?
I'm a professional singer and I'll be there 8 - 15th October and want to attend an open class or visit a college that teaches jazz singing, Julliard for example. Failing that, I'd like to find quality open mic jazz singers nights while I'm there to make the most of my week! Any ideas guys?
Columbia University is worth checking out. I don't know their class schedule, but I can say they have an amazing jazz station filled with DJ's who are very educated in jazz. Try contacting a DJ, even if Columbia isn't offering a class while your in NYC, a DJ might know where there is a class and/or a place to sing.
