Can I sell a client's art prints if they never claimed them or paid after years of phone calls?
I work at a shop that does large format printing and we used to do art reproduction. A client came to me many years ago requesting giclee prints of his artwork. I did the prints, called him, and he never came in to pick them up or pay for them. After many years and many phone calls, they're still here. I think the guy was a crack addict, his work is good, but who knows what happened to him. I would send a registered letter that he has 30 days to pick up the items or they will be considered abandoned property. After 30 days then you legally would have the right to sell. This is common law in most states, you can't just assume he won't return.
