Exactly Much Are Your Antique Posters Worth?
As with any invaluable piece of art from bygone eras, old posters that have been saved in poster frames are often worth significants amount of money, and there's a considerable world of collectors full of people who are willing to buy antique posters that are still in perfect condition. Judging the value of vintage posters can be challenging, though. There are various factors that go into it, and simply because a poster is old does not mean that it is worth anything. Here are a few points to take into account.
Condition: In order to be truly worth anything at all, old posters should be in mint condition -- that is, no rips, wrinkles, scratches, or fading. If you suspect that your antique posters may be worth money, the very first thing you should think about doing is put them in poster frames. Invest in some strong plastic poster frames that provide UV-ray defense and that will not crack if the picture falls.
Demand: Like every commodity, the single most important thing that goes into the value of classic posters is the quantity of demand. Even if your antique poster is in gorgeous condition, it probably won't be valued at any money at all if there's no one who wishes to buy it. And sadly, just because you have an appreciation for the poster doesn't imply that other people will. If you get any like this, these posters are excellent candidates to be put into poster frames and hung up on your your wall. It could be they will still climb in worth at some point. In the event that they do not, they will at least look fantastic on your walls.
Volume: Classic posters also go down and up in worth in line with the number of them that exist. For example, if there are only 5 copies on earth of a certain poster, it might be worth five-hundred dollars. Alternatively, if there happen to be 15,000 copies, you'll be fortunate if the price tag breaks $50. This isn't invariably the case, yet it is a good guideline to consider.
Age: Once again, this isn't an infallible guideline, but in most cases, the more antique a poster is, the higher its valuation is going to be. Especially with regard to posters which were kept in poster frames in dimly lit locations since immediately after they were created, they could be practically as valuable as many antique works of fine art. Meanwhile, there are numerous more recent posters that may be worth high levels. For example, if you own any posters that were made upon the original runs of popular movies from the last couple of decades, they may be worth at least a little bit of money.
