Women Trench Coats: From Being a Soldier's Uniform to Becoming a Fashion Must-Have
During World War I, trench coats were created as part of a British soldier's uniform. Its name originated from the word ‘trenches" where it was first worn by soldiers. After the war, men continued wearing them and later on became a popular fashion item not only for men, but also for women. Women trench nowadays are mostly made from leathers, but are also made from poplin, wool gabardine, and cotton drill that are heavy duty. Among the leather-made women trench coats, the most dressiest variety is the Italian leather that is made from pliable cowhide leather. It is soft and thinner compared to other leathers. Women trench coats made from Italian leather is not a best choice of outerwear for people living in a cold climate. Another type of leather for women trench are the buckskin and deerskin leathers that are preferred to be worn outdoors and during sport hunting because these are thicker and are more durable. Though they can be categorized as masculine, women who love outdoor activities but are wise enough to stay protected from any outdoor harshness opt to choose wearing this type of women trench coat. There is also another type of women trench leather that has a shiny outer coating and is popularly known as patent leather. Trench coats made from this leather are good outerwear for rainy seasons. But any woman wearing this during the rainy season could still look stylish despite the drizzle. And lastly, leather from skins of animals like lizards, crocodiles, and snakes are also trendy women trench coat materials that are quite expensive compared to other leathers.
Women trench coats have more variety compared to trench coats for men. It can be very short with a length that reaches just above the thigh or it can be longer (ankle length). Trench coats for women also come in vibrant colors aside from the usual brown and black leather colors that are mostly worn by men. As for styles, slim-fitting women trench coats are also popular among women since it provides a more dressier appearance. In buying or choosing women trench coat, go for the types that are made from high quality materials since you can be sure that these coats will last a long time. Also, old women trench coats can be altered so try not to give those old coats away. If the coat is already too tight for your figure, try adjusting the buttons to fit it in your new size. And for coats that are already too big for you, try altering the side seams so that it can fit your new figure. And since trench coats never go out of style, try more chic alterations (like adding new materials and designs) on your old coats to make it still appear in-style.

What were the British soldiers supposed to do once they had gone over the top in WW1?
If they survived the heavy bombardment and reached the German trenches, what could they do then? Wouldn't they be hopelessly outnumbered?
What would happen if a soldier returned to his own trench empty handed?
Were there usually people left behind in the trenches (when their section had gone over the top), in order to shoot deserters?
Where were the men usually encourage to walk (not run) towards the German trenches?
There was no purpose full stop .
The idea of walking was so that if the Nazis had by some miracle all fallen asleep allowing the troops to make it to the German lines then they would all arrive at the same time . Those who did make it died , most of those who didn't make it died , those who returned to their own trenches empty handed more than 5 minutes after going over the top were congratulated on being alive so they could go over the top another day and die while all solemnly contemplated the fact that several thousand people had just been slaughtered . The only "lucky soldiers" were the ones that were permanently disabled while going over the top and so fell back in their own trench to be wrapped up and shipped home as useless .
It was the same for the Germans .
The Somme was taken when the Nazis retreated , all those who died died for nothing . Nobody alive today can possibly understand just how much of an insult to humanity that the battle of the Somme was .

Many were sent "over the top" with rifles that did not work or bullets that could not fire so the governments on both sides could save money .
