Family Sailing Chartering
The South Coast is one of the best sailing areas in England (possibly in the World!) and there's a large Thames Sailing Barge moored at Gun Wharf Quays Portsmouth waiting to give you a fantastic family sailing experience. What better than to charter this large boat for a night or two.
Join her by train, car or smaller boat one evening and dine on board, or in one of the many good restaurants ashore whilst anticipating a fantastic sail on the Solent next day. The whole event takes on a life of its own, it's like a team building sailing but for the family. When you join after a full and satisfying English Breakfast, with the wind in your hair, you can join in the sailing and feel the real meaning of a family sailing activity weekend, you can watch the smaller boats around as you make your way over to Cowes, or one of many other harbours.
There you can enjoy a drink and some lunch aboard, or ashore whilst exploring the town. What an amazing experience, sailing the huge boat inspires a feeling of awe when comparing her to the other yachts. Many opportunities exist for the keen yachtsman to learn about sailing this large and different sort of craft and the Barge Master is always keen to encourage the willing to take the Helm, haul on the ropes and wind up the winches! This will stick in your memory as a day of family sailing in the solent, and perhaps even a bit of family team building sailing.
