Can someone point me to statistics on percentage of mid-19c British (Victorian) women dying in childbirth?
I'm interested to know what percentage of middle- & upper-class women who died in childbirth in the 1850s (or in the 19th century in general). I know among the working poor, the rates were quite high. I have searched a bit on Google and didn't come with anything meaningful. Thanks.
