Is it possible to dye a wedding dress white?
Hi, my mother offered to let me wear her wedding dress in my wedding. The problem is that it's ivory instead of white, because it's from her second marriage. I can justify wearing a white dress and would definitely prefer to, but it would mean a lot to my mom if I would wear hers. Is there a way to have an ivory wedding gown dyed white?
If you did try this, you would use a colour remover rather than a dye.
However, I wouldn't try it myself. As with dying, different fabrics react differently to the colouring process. If the dress is not ALL the same fabric, you will end up with different parts of the dress in different versions of ivory or white.
If you have your heart set on this ask at your local dry cleaners who might handle this in your area. I doubt anyone will guarantee results for you.
