Young Moms With Big Problems
These young moms are basically expected to step into the role of motherhood like they were made for it.
In fact, yes females are made to be mothers, but they need to develop these skills. Many times, because of the way society perceives them, these young moms end up with big problems. In the early days a young mom has nothing but her maternal instinct to get her through the tough times.
Aside from the multitude of financial problems that they face, many young mothers end up with babes that are not healthy. All one has to do is go onto the many health forums, and you are bound to find a least a few young mothers that have the responsibility of raising a sick baby. More often than not these are girls that are raising their baby without a father.
It is quite ironic that sometimes these young moms are judged by society, and people give no sympathy, after all they deserve to be in this situation don't they? What about the father? Where is he, surely equal responsibility should be apportioned? This just does not happen, and more often than not we don't even think about where the dad might be. So this leaves our young mom, desperate for help and a little understanding.
It should never be assumed that just because they are young, mothers don't sense the dangers that exist around a sick baby. A trip to the local emergency room is sure to reveal at least one young mother there, with a look of terror on her face, because her youngster is ill. No matter whether it's a simple case of colic or a life threatening disease, to the young mom it is terrifying.
Often there is family members there to lend support, but there are plenty of times where there isn't. In over crowded emergency rooms there is no time for staff to meet the emotional needs of these young moms with big problems.
More often than not these sick babies are admitted to hospital for a period of time then because of bed shortages, are sent home to the care of a young mother who doesn't have a clue of what she is up against.
The next time you are in an emergency room and see a young mom on her own, don't be afraid to offer a kind word or two. There is no charge to reach out and offer a little kindness.
